Moments of Vision is a "song-cycle" for speaker, written for Peter Pears after the great artist, ever eager to continue working, had suffered a stroke that curtailed his singing voice.  The texts — Siegfried Sassoon, Walter Pater, Virginia Woolf, Rilke — outline a poetic life-cycle from childhood to death and transcendence.
