In Chymick Art, a cantata in three sections on Edward Benlowes' weird and wonderful metaphysical texts, was written for the short-lived but long-influential Wardour Castle Summer Schools of 1964-5 run by the three composers of the "Manchester School" (Alexander Goehr, Peter Maxwell Davies, Harrison Birtwistle).
